REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Institute of Zakat Infak and Alms of Muhammadiyah (LazisMu) is again sending humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people. This time, the LazisMu team joined the Poroz alliance, which had previously coordinated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) RI.
Chairman of LazisMu Central Governing Body, Ahmad Imam Mujadid Rais, said that the team that left for Palestine consisted of delegations from LazisMu East Java and LazisMu Central Java, among others. In any case, the collection of donations deploys all the resources of LazisMu Central and other regions.
Mujadid Rais explained that Poroz is an alliance consisting of amil zakat (laz) institutions based on Islamic community organizations (ormas). In addition to Lazismu, it also includes LazisNu, LAZ Persis, Laznas Dewan Da'wah, Baitul Maal Hidayatullah, Wahdah Inspirasi Zakat, and Laznas al-Irsyad al-Islamiyyah.
In the framework of Joint Action For Palestine, POROZ seeks to convey the trust of donors. It also shows the great concern of the Indonesian people for the Palestinians, especially the Gaza Strip, which is still suffering from Israeli genocide to this day.
“We will be there for three days, and coordinate with the Indonesian Embassy in Amman, which will further involve the Indonesian Students' Union (PPI) and the Leaders of the Special Branch of Muhammadiyah (PCIM) of Jordan. Furthermore, coordinate so that the distribution of aid to the Palestinians goes smoothly,” Mujadid Rais said in a written statement received in Jakarta on Thursday (19/8/2024).
The aid that will be sent to the Palestinian people consists of grain and hygiene kits. In total, all of it was transported by 12 container or container vehicles. Mujadid hopes that the distribution of donations from the people of Indonesia can go smoothly to the needy Palestinian communities.
“This assistance is the foundation for LazisMu and Poroz to immediately continue to channel humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in the next phase. Moreover, in the midst of the emergency situation resulting from Israeli attacks to date, the development of which we have witnessed together, through news reports and so on,” he said.
Imam Hambali, the head of the East Java Association, said that the distribution of this aid is a manifestation of the concern of Muslims, especially the citizens of Muhammadiyah, for the plight of the Palestinian people. Among the donor parties that put their trust in LazisMu is the company Jatinom Indah.
“Thank you to the entire LazisMu community who have entrusted their donation to us,” he said.
The same was conveyed by Muhammad Amir Ansori from LazisMu Central Java. He hopes that humanitarian aid to the Palestinians can continue to be sustained, especially in the midst of Israel's nearly one-year-long genocide.
