REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Ministry of Religious Affairs has compiled a Quran for disable. For this purpose, the National Zakat Board (Baznas) cooperates with the Institute of Quran Science (IIQ), conducts Training of Trainers (ToT) or special training for prospective teachers.

Rector of IIQ Nadjematul Faizah expressed his gratitude for this opportunity, involved in providing the benefit of Quran teaching to the disabled. According to Faizah, all human beings have an equal position before Allah, except the handicapped. What distinguishes the position of men from one another, he said, is only the degree of their devotion to Allah.

“So this event is certainly very useful, the disabled also have the same opportunity (with us), thank God with this new technology or science, it is an opportunity to give Quran lessons to our deaf brothers,” said Faizah at Pondok Pesantren Takhassus IIQ Jakarta, in Pamulang, South Tangerang, Wednesday (20/12/2023).

The training of teachers and educators for people with sensory-impaired speech hearing, is planned to be held for two days. Which, in fact, Faizah thinks is sorely lacking, because in IIQ itself, he said, this teaching required 16 meetings.

IIQ has special courses on Quran Learning Methods for people with disabilities, both Quran Braille learning for the blind and also Quran Cues for the deaf and speech.

“If we on campus are prepared, if our alumni graduates are able to do that. So we have actually got ahead of Baznas activities, thank God Baznas supports this. So later ToT will be trained here, later it will return to the place where they were sent, some in SLB schools, others in communities,” Faizah said.

The head of Baznas Achmad Sudrajat hopes that this program can benefit the deaf and hard of speech handicapped people. Because even the disabled, Kiai Ajat says, have the same right in studying the Quran to perfect their worship, especially prayer.

“They are not ordinary people, they are handicapped people who we must also encourage them to gain religious strengthening, among them the ability to read the Quran, because this has a great influence on the perfection of prayer, worship, and other worships,” said Kiai Ajat.

This training may be the first time, however, Kiai Ajat hopes that there will be a continuation of this ToT as conveyed by Rector IIQ Faizah. The goal is that educators and teachers equipped with the knowledge of the sign language Quran can spread throughout the regions of Indonesia.

“We hope today to be an example of this, and we hope to develop it in 34 provinces. That is our duty and when we have done this, then we have had the miscarriage, if we have not done it, then we are all sinful,” he explained.

“Since this is the first step, maybe later there will be a National ToT, we will return it to the regions, so that they teach, accompany, and be part of bringing the glory of the Quran,” Kiai Ajat said.
